Carriagehouse Insurance is pleased to be able to offer specialist cover for donkeys, to include death & theft and vets fees. Cover is also available for driving donkeys and may include carriages and harness. Health cover is available which reflects the fact that donkeys age more slowly than horses - normal cover can be provided from the age of 6 months to 20 years old. The maximum age limit for health cover is 25. This policy is designed for donkeys owned for private and pleasure use only.

Primary Cover

Legal liability for injury or damage to third parties up to a maximum of £1,000,000 per claim. Special premium rates are available for donkeys re-homed from the Donkey Sanctuary or owned by Donkey Breed Society members. This cover is not available for beach donkeys or those used for hire and reward.

This cover may be extended to include non-fare paying passengers or grooms in your carriage.

Health Cover

Death, theft and straying cover is available on the same basis as horses but at a slightly lower rate. Donkeys are not considered to be veterans until they are 20 years of age.This cover is compulsory if you require vets fee cover.

There are 2 vets fee options available, both provide cover to £2,000 per occurrence.The standard cover has a policy excess of £125 per claim and the cheaper option has an excess of £300 per claim.

Accessories

Your donkey insurance policy may be extended to include cover for carriages, harness, saddlery, trailers and stables.
