HOW TO MAKE A CLAIM The first thing to do is take a look at your Policy Schedule to make sure that you have cover for the section you wish to claim for, such as legal liability cover for a third party claim, or vets fee cover if your donkey becomes lame. Take special note of any exclusions that may be in the notes section on the Schedule. While you have your Policy Schedule in front of you make a note of your policy number and ensure the claim is within your policy year. For any potential claim, it is your responsibility as the insured to advise Carriagehouse Insurance at the earliest possible time. This may be done by telephone or email. Once we have been advised, it is up to you whether or not you then submit the claim; but, if you decide not to, it is a good idea to let us know so that we can close the claim file. Before the Underwriters consider any claim, you must submit a completed claim form with any associated estimates for damage or loss, or any itemised bills for vets fee claims. In addition, we will also need a report from your attending vet for vets fee claims, death of donkey or loss of use claims. Please note that certain diagnostic techniques require authorisation before they are performed, otherwise a claim for these may be declined. These include MRI scans and scintigraphy to which from July 2007 you must pay 25% of costs. Please ask your vet for a report as to what has been done prior to reaching this stage and why these scans are required. Once received, we can obtain the necessary authorisation. Please note that, for new policies from July 07 and renewal from August 07, only 75% of the cost of these scans will be covered by this insurance. |
