What happens if the Underwriters decline my third party claim?

Most liability policies include defence costs where the Underwriters agree to them, so if they decline a claim and you are sued, then they have to defend it. Any legal action is done in your name but all Solicitors etc are appointed and paid for by the Underwriters.
